Chinese BBQ Pork

Experience the deliciousness of homemade Chinese BBQ Pork. Thinly sliced and marinated to perfection, this pork dish is grilled to achieve a delightful char, creating a stunning centerpiece on a cutting board.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder, thinly sliced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon Chinese cooking wine Shaoxing wine

  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions:

In a bowl, mix together minced garlic, grated ginger, honey, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, Chinese cooking wine, Chinese five-spice powder, and white pepper


This will be your marinade


Place the thinly sliced pork shoulder in a large zip-top bag or a shallow dish


Pour the marinade over the pork, ensuring each slice is well-coated


Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight for the best flavor


Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat


Remove the marinated pork from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature


Brush the grill grates or a baking sheet with vegetable oil to prevent sticking


Grill the pork slices for 3-4 minutes per side or until they develop a nice char and are cooked through


Alternatively, you can roast them in the oven at 400F 200C for about 15-20 minutes


Once cooked, let the Chinese BBQ pork rest for a few minutes before slicing


Serve the succulent Chinese BBQ pork slices on a cutting board for a visually appealing presentation


Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired
